This is a case of a pretty idiosyncratic landlord foolishly turning away a good, paying tenant. I do not think that reflects the industry in general. Just like not every politician and civil servant is venal and corrupt and a sexual harrasser, just because Cuomo, Shelly Silver, Elliot Spitzer, and Dean Skelos were. — james on L’Angolo Tribeca has closed
Yes, I walked by the John St location and thought it was just another unauthorized CBD store. But thanks, Tribeca Citizen, I will now check it out. And definitely agree with Reader on Reade about what we could use in the neighborhood! — Amy G. on It’s *Mr.* Exotix to you!
Yes! Please fill out Trader Joe’s location request for a Fidi store!!! https://www.traderjoes.com/home/contact-us/request-a-store The more people who ask the greater our chances! — Ellen on Whole Foods Market One Wall Street to open on Jan. 11
I'm also taken aback by how many trees on the sidewalk still have their stand attached. I'm still using the basic, plastic stand that my parents used when I was a kid with some nuts and eye bolts . Are these people buying a new stand every year?? What a waste of plastic/metal and money!! — JB on Seen & Heard: Law & Order on the streets of Tribeca
BB&B is an awful lot of store for a neighborhood with little foot traffic. — Manhattan Mommie on Bed Bath & Beyond on the brink
The original triangle below Canal block! — Robert Ripps on Where in Tribeca?
Just started watching 'East New York' on CBS and the neighborhood has been featured a lot there (ironically).. One of the storylines revolves around one of the detectives stealing a souvenir bat off the wall of Mudville.. — B.Thompson on Seen & Heard: Law & Order on the streets of Tribeca
Which is why they are bagged in the first place. However, they neglect to remove the bag once outside. Ugh! — Luis on Seen & Heard: Law & Order on the streets of Tribeca
At least they were considerate enough not to mess up their building's interior with needles and debris to be cleaned up. — james on Seen & Heard: Law & Order on the streets of Tribeca
I've always wondered why they didn't convert the local Bed Bath & Beyond to a Buy Buy Baby after the 2019 acquisition. It seems like it would do well given the makeup of the neighborhood, and has generally been the best performing part of BB&B. — Sam on Bed Bath & Beyond on the brink
In the "no idea" dept, I'll give benefit of the doubt that perhaps they didn't see the instructions on the NYC site. Maybe they assumed since other recycling must be bagged, then so must trees, since without a bag, the tree makes a potential mess on the sidewalk as needles fall off while awaiting pickup, sometimes for days. Anyway I'm glad NYC has this program, and I hope they will expand the general curbside composting to Manhattan soon. — Marcus on Seen & Heard: Law & Order on the streets of Tribeca
More octagon houses? Yes, there are more! Maybe not as fancy as the Armour-Steiner house, but octagonal for sure. — Roberta on Field Trip: The Armour-Stiner Octagon House, Irvington, NY
Are these people too lazy to take it off when they get it to the street, so privileged they expect the sanitation workers to do it for them, or have no idea what is going on in the world. — CB on Seen & Heard: Law & Order on the streets of Tribeca
Ahh, didn’t realize that Insta post was referring to the John St location. It’s an interesting (if somewhat niche) concept, but they might have considered that their “faux-shabby chic” look just looks shabby on that particular (rundown) block of Church. Their particular aesthetic/vibe would have made more sense on a block w higher-end retail offerings, as a point of contrast. This part of the neighborhood could really use a local florist/plant store, as well as a dedicated hardware store. — Reader on Reade on It’s *Mr.* Exotix to you!
A great interview. A very talented person and great designer. I hope to read more about her. — Patrick Chevillot on Portrait of the Artist: Rosemary Lepre Forman
Harrison St, New York, NY 10013 — Jeanie on Where in Tribeca?
I wish Sole di Capri was coming back. This restaurant was the best dining experience in Tribeca with a menu that was affordable. I'll skip the $9 bag of chips. — K on It’s *Mr.* Exotix to you!
Does anybody know if they found this guy? I live around the corner so it is very disturbing to see this happen in broad daylight and with other people around. — shampab on Man mugs woman on Leonard on New Year’s Day

Sad especially for the over 70 age group in south Battery Park city. The BPC pharmacy was closed and now Rite Aid. The duane reade in north BPC is too far too walk with a walker. P The luxury stores in Brookfield pay no rent but the stores that benefit the community suffer rent hikes. The gristedes/Sloan closed as well as Picasso pizza and the liquor store this month due to increased rents. Now rite aid. Gateway lost stabilization. The now elderly community which built the community back after 9/11 are being pushed out due to increased rents and lack of services. — Sarah on Rite Aid in Brookfield is closing
Had chicken sandwich here the other day and it was simply not good. McDonald’s does better. guys chicken sandwich is not extra fried tasteless cutlet with mayo slapped on top. The place was also completely empty at lunchtime. — Phil R on New Kid on the Block: Smyth Tavern
So have they sold the air rights to build condos on top of PS234? Or perhaps it is there going to be a green space on top for migrating birds and butterflies? Wait maybe perhaps it's just a big Bansky pop-up that will magically fold up into a kids backpack? It's got to be something more that a sidewalk cover the feels like your walking under an elevated train, right? — MPM on The labyrinth that is now the PS 234 entrance
Have you been to the Duane Reade on Greenwich lately? It seems half the items are already under lock & key- I understand doing that for expensive medical devices, but toothpaste? — Robert Ripps on Rite Aid in Brookfield is closing
What is happening with Bondi Sushi? The display shelves were bare and it seemed deserted although I did get to pick up my order. — Vicki on The labyrinth that is now the PS 234 entrance
