If Target wants police protection on site, it can avail itself of the NYPD's Paid Detail Unit at is own expense, like Duane Reade has. https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/duane-reade-hiring-off-duty-nypd-officers-amid-sharp-spike-in-shoplifting/2292554/ — James on Nosy Neighbor: Why are there police cars and officers stationed at Target
Have they resumed construction on 45 Park Place? It seemed like it has been abandoned for over a year and there is still a very tall crane up there. I remember one extremely windy day seeing that crane blowing and spinning around... seems like its just waiting for a disaster. — Michael on In the News: Edibles supper club coming to Spring Studios?
I'm with Tribeca Mom: "Lifelong Tribecan" is the one who doesn't sound as if lived here last century. I know I have. If you think I'm a paid troll think again. Of course, you can think anything you like: doesn't make it true. You write "no way random people on the internet care about this community board decision." That could be true, but what about Tribecans who read The Tribeca Citizen daily. We're NOT random people, but Tribecans reading about our neighborhood. You might think about that possibility before you accuse people of being paid phonies. PS I've never eaten at the restaurant in question, so that has no bearing on my point of view. — Ben on Marc Forgione will leave Reade and move to Hudson
Nice spot. Just need to figure out area/space for take out and will be even better. — j. on New Kid on the Block: Bluestone Lane
Boy do I too miss Delphi! Still have a menu. — Ben on New Kid on the Block: Bluestone Lane
Good point about stolen goods. There are many articles about this issue online. Beware. For example: "Online Bargains Might Be Stolen Goods Retailers estimate that one-third of auction and blog sites' listings for "new in box" or "new with tags" items are actually stolen goods." https://www.nbcnews.com/business/consumer/online-bargains-might-be-stolen-goods-n110166 — Marcus on Nosy Neighbor: Why are there police cars and officers stationed at Target
Actually you sound like the paid troll. As a follower of this blog from the day Erik first launched, I recognize most of these contributors as frequent commenters and very passionate about the neighborhood and their neighbor's concerns. Anyone who has lived in Tribeca for a while knows that restaurants (not clubs) are a mainstay of the neighborhood. Good respectful establishments such as Marc Forgione's 3 restaurants are welcome in Tribeca and he has a proven track record as a great neighbor. The space where Marc is moving, as any lifelong Tribecan would know, has been an upscale restaurant for years. David Bouley's Danube occupied the space when I first moved here and I have had the pleasure of dining at each of the sucessor restaurants over the years and look forward to visting Marc's new place when it opens. — TribecaMom on Marc Forgione will leave Reade and move to Hudson
Agreed. When we moved to Tribeca in the late 70s, Delphi was one if the few places to eat in the evening. — Makes You Go Hmmmm.... on New Kid on the Block: Bluestone Lane
Happy to see this, but miss Delphi every time something new goes into their old space. Miss old Tribeca! — Sam on New Kid on the Block: Bluestone Lane
So you're saying it's wrong for police to station themselves where crimes are being routinely committed. Or are you "woke" enough that shoplifting =reparations? — Makes You Go Hmmmm.... on Nosy Neighbor: Why are there police cars and officers stationed at Target
Words fail me regarding this tragedy. Scott was probably the kindest, sweetest man I have ever met. He and Vivian were truly a dynamic duo. They have taken such wonderful care of my late dog Grover and my dog Wally and have become such dear friends over the years. Scott was truly one in a million and all that met him should count themselves lucky. I know I certainly do. Lots of love to Vivian. — Bree Harlin on Scott Geyer, local artist and dog walker, dies at 69
There you have it, folks! — Tribeca Citizen on Where in Tribeca?
Target should not have police officers Manning their store . Shoplifting is an issue for all Retail Establishments . Why should Our local Police Precinct favor protecting Target? Is this how we as a community Want our Police to be spending their time By doing the bidding of a Fortune 500 publicly Traded Corporation . — B. Breyre on Nosy Neighbor: Why are there police cars and officers stationed at Target
Hmm, thanks for your response, well there are three red fire hydrants that surround Citi-Bank, All three nicely painted, the other two are on the West Side Highway between North Moore and Hubert Street. I believe this one by looking at the line in the pavement is the one closest to Hubert Street on the West Side Highway just in front of one of the lovely seating areas that Citi-Bank provides for the public? regards, Sonia S. — SONIA STOCK on Where in Tribeca?
Some of these comments are ridiculous and are clearly in someone’s pay to support the business in question. There is no way random people on the internet care about this community board decision. These are Tribeca citizens who have concerns. These are people who’ve lived in the neighborhood longer than Tribeca had a name, and certainly longer than you’ve been in pay of real estate speculators and liquor license expeditors. there are buildings neighborhoods all over manhattan that don’t want restaurants blasting music until 2AM, and the community board just rolled over. YOU don’t have to live or sleep near this, you can just drink and yell and make a mess on the street to your heart’s content and then go home to your quiet home on a sleepy block in the outer boroughs or suburbia. Bottom line: businesses should take the neighbors needs into consideration – this is the whole why we have liquor license approval processes through community boards. — lifelong tribecan on Marc Forgione will leave Reade and move to Hudson
Ah! That may be but this is at a different spot... — Tribeca Citizen on Where in Tribeca?
There are several of these red fire hydrants all over however there is only one shiny and newly painted like this and it is located on the corner of Hubert and Greenwich Street in front of the Citi-Bank building, regards, Sonia S. — SONIA STOCK on Where in Tribeca?
A very sad and shocking loss for all of us who were fortunate enough to know Scott. Sending our condolences to Vivian. — Elle Gerstler on Scott Geyer, local artist and dog walker, dies at 69

My husband and I greatly cared for Scott. We knew him in his many trades and professions. We always had a Chat with he and Vivian. He will be greatly missed. Wherever he is. May god always bless him and keep him safe. Yes I am sad. 🙏🎭💐 — Jacqueline. Margolis on Scott Geyer, local artist and dog walker, dies at 69
We first met Scott when we brought our puppy Luna home back in September 2019. We were having a difficult time adjusting and caring for a new puppy. Scott and Vivian immediately jumped in and helped us care for our Luna. She spent many days and nights there, including the day of Scott's passing. We referred to Scott and Vivian as Luna's grandparents. I am still in shock from his passing and think of him (and Vivian) often. May he rest in peace. — MME on Scott Geyer, local artist and dog walker, dies at 69

Scott will surely be missed. I am a dog owner and neighbor who saw Scott often on the streets of Tribeca. He was always so friendly and would introduce me to his dog he was walking at the time and keep me updated on the neighborhood. I saw Scott from afar about an hour before his death. He was across the street and I figured I’d say hi to him later. He took a really great photo of my dog, Ruby, that I’d love to share. Too young for sure! — kathleen ragan on Scott Geyer, local artist and dog walker, dies at 69
