I am wondering why the addresses for 4 World Financial Center and 3 World Financial Center have not been changed to their new addresses (250 and 200 Vesey Street) since the center’s name was changed to Brookfield Place. And more importantly, why are they listed under Financial District area rather than Battery Park City, which is where they reside. Could you find out? — Fran on Community Board 1 agendas for July

Maybe the state/BPCA looked at Belvedere Plaza & thought, "Nah, that looks too much like our rendering already. If we put it there, we can't pay someone a couple million $$ on new trees & brick//pave." — J Frank P on Two sites in BPC now being considered for the monument
I agree with Tom. I am so sick of the cutesy acronym NIMBY that is supposed to stop all discussion of an issue and shame people that don't agree with them about what is right for their community. The building is obviously too tall for a lowrise historic district as it was zoned. It will permanently destroy the seaport district. Shame on the Seaport Museum. They should be in the frontlines opposing this debacle and help preserve the Seaport. Find funding elsewhere for the museum! Also, Howard Hughes is using the promise of a few floors of "affordable housing" as a Trojan horse to push thru a huge building that is mostly luxury appartments. — Sandy on Neighbors organizing (and suing) to fight 250 Water plans
And residents that were architects, monument historians and landcape designers said they made no sense, would not work and were an embarassment — Britni on Two sites in BPC now being considered for the monument
Great to read these comments (and feedback). The reception from the Tribeca community has been terrific and we're just so excited to be able to open in this pandemic. I look forward to meeting you. — Andy on Bluestone Lane coffee is on its way to Tribeca
Thanks Pam for publishing the poster and for the continued research. Time flies…. Last I heard he was feeding pigeons in Union Square. — A. on The Chambers Street connection to Bernhard Goetz
I just read elsewhere that the two new possible sites are 1) the grassy trees area right near to the Irish Memorial and 2) the volleyball court next to the harbor. There were a lot of surveyors out this am at both spots as well as at the shady tree area on the other side of the harbor. Why can’t this project be slowed down so that there can be careful consideration? The park is so beautiful as is. — A2 on The state will find a new location for the monument to essential workers
When you're white, politicians listen to you. If BPC were a segregated, black ZIP code, the construction of the monument would be ongoing. — Mister_Sterling on Battery Park City now has a neighborhood association
I agree with you but it won’t satisfy Cuomo’s ego. Now that I think of it, the one possible space is ironically the one that was foisted on us after 9/11, by former governor Pataki. According to his thinking, that wide walkway along Little West Street that he insisted on (locals wanted a playground or something more lively; I don’t remember the details) would be used by masses of tourists to walk from Battery Park to the Trade Center memorial, which hasn’t happened. Locals called it “Patakistan” because it was so deserted. They finally put in a citibike station and that signage about something or other, but they could put something under the trees that are already there. — Hudson River on The state will find a new location for the monument to essential workers
Wow, thanks for the update! After 3 years! Finally!! — CJ on New Amsterdam Library opens tomorrow
Important to protest when necessary! I remember in the early 80’s sit ins at Board of Ed on Livingston St., and picketing at City Hall when they wanted to close the P.S.3 Annex, which turned in the new P.S.234! — Karen on The state will find a new location for the monument to essential workers

Flurry of activity in and out of the half-bean today. Yesterday a man on a bike pulled up, as I walked by, and asked the security guard sitting next to the 1/2 bean, when the rest of the bean was coming. The guard said, "Soon," smiling. Thanks for the hopeful news it may be completed soon TC. A full-bean will be better looking that this boarded up half-bean for sure! — Fran on Anish Kapoor sculpture on hold till travel resumes
I only went from Field 5 to Atlantique on the paths, but my nephew is a lifeguard in Ocean Bay Park and commutes there from Field 5 by bike regularly. He rides his mountain bike on the beach. — Tribeca Citizen on Field Trip: Bike into Fire Island
Thanks for all your info (both good and bad) Was wondering about whether Burma road was paved or concrete or just dirt road. I have a mountain bike, so it shouldn't be a problem. I remember it being primarily dirt road from a couple years back. Can you ride your bike or walk it down that first ped. boardwalk adjacent to the eastern most part of the parking lot? — lily zajc on Field Trip: Bike into Fire Island
Don't disagree, and that's why I say just rename a place. Put up a plaque or new signage, repaint benches, add some new sod, have a ceremony and you have a space to dedicate and honor. — Tribeca Citizen on The state will find a new location for the monument to essential workers
I love the building and the sculpture. I think it is an amazing work of architecture and I am very excited to see the bean finished! — Natalie Manrique on Anish Kapoor sculpture on hold till travel resumes

She is evil, I have had many encounters. Most recent was last week. There are videos all over about her. Here is one from IG. Exactly there isn't underutilized space....different quiet uses need to be protected as well!! Not everyone has a child or wants to sit on grass. Some prefer the benches and quietly reflecting or watching the water as a break from the noise and density. — TK on The state will find a new location for the monument to essential workers
Well that's good news about "the bean" I guess. it's been an eyesaw for years, but I'd be much happier to hear that the giant water main DIG tha's been Worth and Church for years and years and seems to grow even longer as it now inches up the block will be fully covered over some day and has forever made that intersection one tiny lane will end someday SOON. — Jean Grillo on Anish Kapoor sculpture on hold till travel resumes
Worst possible location for the Bean under one of the eyesores of New York. AK would come to regret this. — R. on Anish Kapoor sculpture on hold till travel resumes
The ongoing decades-long saga of Anish Kapoor’s bean (you should pardon the expression), 56 Leonard’s tribulations, the construction failures, the building leaks. It’s all gotten so boring. Art dissolving into pure commodification. And they can’t even get THAT right, and that’s easy. — Bruce Ehrmann on Anish Kapoor sculpture on hold till travel resumes
