Does the 125k include registered voters that are Republican or Independent? Still sounds like a low turnout given the preponderance of registered Democrats in NYC, but makes the numbers slightly less paltry if I’m reading the stats correctly. — Lisa on City Council District 1 initial results for round 1 are in
S, I totally agree 100 percent. I hate that its a close race. They may just cheat and make her win. I don't trust the system. Its very sad. — NATIVE on City Council District 1 initial results for round 1 are in

if Eric Adams becomes mayor (looks like it) His platform ran on reducing crime so defunding the police will be rhetoric from the past. If somehow Maya Wiley wins, its time to head for the hills, or in most cases in NYC, Florida — S on City Council District 1 initial results for round 1 are in

Not only did this "dump" become a park, it is sacred ground. Debris from the towers collapse was brought here to be sifted through by volunteers. Neighbors rallied to feed the volunteers. Many families received priceless items from their lost members, lie rings, watches, wallets, ID cards. — Mary Bullock on Field Trip: Freshkills Park
I guess people won't care about the effects of the mercury clean-up, nor the violation of the historic district height restriction because of NIMBYism, or they are just not New Yorkers. Travel the world, and learn how other countries plan, preserve and restore the surroundings of their historic landmark for future generations. We definitely need more affordable housing, but we don't force build it anywhere with vacant land, especially right next to a designated national historical monument. Please be civil and properly build something that is appropriate over the 250 water parking lot, and abide by the historic zone height restriction. — Tom on Neighbors organizing (and suing) to fight 250 Water plans
Re Cicci di Carne -- if you google it, you'll find links to Grubhub for restaurants in both Seattle and Sacrimento (both "not accepting orders on Grubhub, but may be soon") that have the exact same menu as the listing for BPC (which is on Grubhub too). There's also a pending trademark/service mark application for something called Cicci di Carne by Dario from an LLC with an address on Spring Street. — N on Seen & Heard: Prayers for Eric Adams at Washington Market Park
