  • Are you serious? So by your logic if there was a violent crime in progress BMCC should do nothing because "not BMCC property"? Wow, the park can build a staircase just for BMCC students & staff to enter & exit the park but BMCC can't keep an eye on a tennis court? Report the damn crime to First Precinct? Since the cops didn't show up cuz they're soooo busy. Wack. What about a nonviolent property such as this weird theft if theythief trespasses on BMCC property first? If a thief or vandal got on the tennis court via BMCC property BMCC is liable because their security did not thwart and/or report the trespass. Someone gets on my property through yours & steals stuff on my property you're paying for it (or not - I will see if you would have to pay.) You expect Washington Market Park staff to do what in the middle of the night? Besides how do you know BMCC isn't supposed to guard the property? If not why is the tennis court lit all night? So actually you're wrong, most likely. Lighting the court suggests someone is (supposed to be) watching it besides it's a way to discourage trespassers. — NYPDo Nothings on Tennis court net is cut down in dark of night

  • Yeah like who? Not Puffy's Tavern, Smith & Mills, TriBeCa Tavern, Another Room, or Nancy Whiskey Pub to name a few. Strippers = almost naked = emitting aerosols = one way covid spreads. Do you get it? Obviously not. Tell you what. How 'bout just one stripper at every TriBeCabar AND restaurant where we make sure she/he is six feet away from you while you're eating your dinner. Have fun with catching the aerosols from the sweat & possible covid from it. — Nona D.Above on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • And It's my right to oppose a place which has live entertainment which could contribute to the spread of a deadly disease ok? Strippers could give the virus to themselves as well as other staff & customers who can in turn give the virus to each other & the strippers. I don't see a positive to this place opening, sorry. When did this site become some quasi-Chamber of Commerce? Plenty of people have lived in TriBeCa longer than New York Dolls had been in business & again so what they've been around for decades? My point which you obviously missed or want to ignore to be contrarian is if a strip club can be open then so can a live music venue, gym, playhouse, or any other entertainment venue & if they can't be open then neither should a strip club. — Nona D.Above on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • Hey Tribeca Citizen, I couldn’t help but notice in your local restaurants list, you are missing a couple I have dined at & they have great food! Please add to your support local list. The Roxy hotel ( be sure to catch a piano performance by Michael Garin.....his rectorie is amazing! The food is so wonderful. Also be sure to add the soho diner. @ thenSoho Grand Hotel ...what a variety of food on their menu.....always impeccable service. We all need to do our part to support local establishments. Thanks for writing this article. — Jules on Where to eat in the neighborhood this season

  • Can’t wait for a shut down again? You can’t wait for 100k people loosing their jobs and being unable to provide for their families? This thing has a 99.8% survival rate. Get off your pompous high horse. — Carl on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • Ban your head to the wall, all other four boroughs have bridges connecting each other, why Staten Islander has to pay the toll ? Are you out of your mind? — Kenny Fung on Verrazzano Bridge toll will soon go both ways

  • These people run a cleaner / tighter ship than any other bar business downtown. They never have any CB issues and do everything ultra conservative and don’t bother anyone. If anyone deserves to be open I trust them to do the right thing. I have the ability to look past the type of industry and directly at the operator / ownership. — Michelle on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • You hit the nail on the head. 100% agree with you. — Sarah S on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • I thought your comment was unfair and mean. The tennis court is not BMCC property. It is not their job to police that area. Their cameras are trained on their catwalk, and the tennis court happens to be in the cameras' field of vision. — Tribeca Citizen on Tennis court net is cut down in dark of night

  • A great addition, but I will note that I did not include a lot of other services, such as framers. We have many in the neighborhood and I was trying to be even handed. — Tribeca Citizen on Happy Thanksgiving to all, and of course, thanks

  • I checked and the numbers seem to be off. 10282 is 1.53% and 10007 is 1.2%. I check almost daily and the numbers have not moved much. Maybe we are not looking at the same thing and i do realize they move around some on the 7 day average. — AK on Where we are on the virus

  • Welcome All Businesses Back to Tribeca! Kudos to Rick & Cd! FlashDancers was here long before other commentators (of course that's just a guess -- so hold the snark if I'm worrg). It's not up to FlashDancers to determine when schools open, but it is their RIGHT to OPEN for BUSNESS if that's what the guidelines say. So hold the snark in general. RE: 65 West B'way. • Wrong? How is it not a nightclub? They're offering live entertainment in the form of strippers. Therefore, live music should be permitted. Four fully clothed people playing music is safer than four barely clothed ones dancing. So what they've been open for three decades? — Nona D.Above on Nosy Neighbor: Is New York Dolls a bar? a restaurant? a museum?

  • Thank you so much Pam for your insightful journalism and your support of our local businesses. I wanted to mention one local business that may not fit into your holiday shopping categories, but it has been a Tribeca stalwart for 36 years - Trilogy Photo at 111 Chambers. They are doing custom framing services as well as selling ready made frames. They got the key maker and picture hanging hardware from Tribeca Hardware when they closed. And, maybe, since we won't be seeing our families, this is the year to send out photo Christmas cards which will support both a local business and the Post Office. Take in a family photo and Mark and his wife will turn it into a lovely card. Tel: 212-693-0210 — JSM on Happy Thanksgiving to all, and of course, thanks

  • I am confused as to why anyone would prefer trucks and cars over someone on a bike. A car or truck and can kill anyone. A bike rarely ever does. • I think the complaint about the un-broken wall of docks, was that once you park your bike you are forced to either walk in the street, or jay walk to cross to a side walk. It’s just a bad design. IMO there should be side walk access every 20 docks. — Patrick Rice on Citi Bike is expanding in all sorts of directions
