Instead of having the great bookstore that once stood there, we now have this. I give it 2 1/2 years. — The Risen Direwolf on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
My favorite building in the neighborhood. Thanks for post this. — A Tribeca Parent on Commercial Loft Peeping: The top floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange
The panic over this is hilarious. Meanwhile, Hobby Lobby sits atop a Whole Foods, which is owned by Amazon. Who of course have also done unethical things. Every large corporation has, simply put. But I don't see people picketing those who choose to buy gluten free croutons from Jeff Bezos. Bit hypocritical, no? By all means do your research and shop at a small business whose actions you can track. But don't shame people for buying supplies at a new reasonably priced store in their neighborhood, just as you don't shame them for shopping at Whole Foods (which of course you shouldn't - Whole Foods are now the cheapest grocer in Tribeca since Food Emporium closed, and therefore the only really accessible local grocer to those of us who are from here and don't have Tribeca Money). — Citizen on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
I do hope they reopen - does anyone have any actual news on an estimated date? Squires is closer to where I live, but at Gee Whiz, I get a bigger portion - and it tastes better. — Nelson on Don’t panic: Gee Whiz is renovating
Understood, and your coverage is much appreciated! I was in no way blaming you or Tribeca Citizen for my own ignorance of this place's existence; just mourning its loss before I even knew it. — Marcus on Five & Dime has closed
Have used Merlin- really works well if you can get a loud enough bird song. Sometimes I can't even pick out an individual bird, but it will pop up with four different birds that it recognizes. However, it will not tell me how quickly pigeons will poop on the Hobby Lobby sign... — Robert Ripps on Seen & Heard: Hobby Lobby signage gets bold
I cover news -- so when they open, or if something changes, like hours or major offerings. But the comments section is a good place for folks to highlight places they love. — Tribeca Citizen on Five & Dime has closed
These bullet points are hysterical! No employer should be punished for not paying for their employees contraception! The great thing about America as you have so many choices. You hate Hobby lobby so much? Then don’t shop there it’s as easy as that. — Downtown Girl on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
And, Micheal's sign is less of an eyesore. I'll be going to Chelsea. — Valen on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
Bringing in Trump?? Oh brother. — New York Girl on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
I don't think Sara is forcing anyone into an ideology. She merely posted facts; citizens can ignore them or read about how Hobby Lobby operates. Then everyone can decide if they want to shop there or not. What Sara posted may not be what you want to read, but they are facts that should be made public if one chooses to do so. — hmmm on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
I had no clue this place was there! Looks beautiful they should find another experienced operator and spent the money on marketing and ads. I think tribeca citizen should highlight places that are amazing and unknown so we can support them — Michael Arguello on Five & Dime has closed
Thanks for posting this. It's hard to believe that there are that many people in tribeca who support all those policies and crimes. — Bec on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
I tried to order food from gee whiz recently and full voicemail comes on , they should put a message saying they are closed for whatever reason, hope they return I like them — Kristaria on Don’t panic: Gee Whiz is renovating
Nothing beats an Ess-a-Bagel! (Even if they don't taste exactly like they did at the original location on 1st Ave ;)) — Franklin Foodie on New Kid in Fidi: Ess-a-Bagel
This is such a massive loss. I was there the day it opened. It was a spot and a vibe like no other. Every inch of it was wonderful. It was always my go-to spot to meet people. Thanks for all the great memories Doc. — FJH on Five & Dime has closed
Looks great. This is very sad that it is closing; i didn't even know about this place but wish I had known, as I would have supported and frequented it. I hope someone takes it over with the same concept and finds a way to make it viable. — Marcus on Five & Dime has closed
Thanks Heidi for your comments. But a question -- I googled Go Crafty but could find nothing. Where is it? — George Bacon on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
Thank you for this summary. It's more important than ever to know where our money goes. This is a horrible company and when you support it, you put money in the pockets of evil people. — nicole on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
Thanks to those expressing their opinions using their names. — Jo Castagna on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
Thank you for offering alternatives. The reality of supporting gross intolerance is despicable. — Jo Castagna on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
paakre@gmail.com The Friends of Finn Square is grateful to all who helped advocate for this needed change. Next step is to get the fencing replaced. The Horticultural Society is helping with the plants and foliage, thanks to a generous donor. — Patricia Aakre on Sidewalks around Finn Square will be replaced
Although I thought Shred Day was usually held on Saturdays, April 27 is a Sunday. — Peter Shershin on Seen & Heard: Demo has started on Finn Square
You are not the Mayor of Tribeca. Aren't you now doing exactly what Trump does. Forcing people into your ideologies. — Sandra on Nosy Neighbor: Is Hobby Lobby taking the entire second floor?
I wish someone would open a studio around 72nd street. There is a vacuum in the neighborhood and a loyal following after so many years!!! — Jennifer on Spotlight: Jen Lobo Plamondon of bodē nyc
