No, this is how we liberate humans from the torment of useless checkout people at whole foods eventually and the precious hours of life we lose standing on line as they take their sweet time to check us out. — Terminator on Amazon Go opens in Brookfield mall
It definitely takes a certain kind of person to (let their dogs) sht where they sleep — lowphat on Local Expert: POOCHi
Pretty sure this is how SkyNet becomes self aware... — Jeff on Amazon Go opens in Brookfield mall
I can't wrap my head around why dog owners leave urine and residue - if not entire poops - in their neighbors' doorways and sidewalks. It's such an effortless act to lead your dog three feet to the street, and makes our neighborhood infinitely more pleasant and sanitary. It took three days and a handful of treats to teach our dog to always walk to the street to relieve herself. Failing that: leash. Why would anyone deliberately choose the alternative for the place they live or work? — Karen B on Local Expert: POOCHi
Not sure what kind of training they do, but hopefully a lot of it is for picking up after the dogs, which seems to be a huge inconvenience for many of the professional dog walkers... and owners. — lowphat on Local Expert: POOCHi
So Tanya thinks that one tiny yogurt store is responsible for an undesirable crowd...hmm, now what crowd would that be Tanya? The kind that is helping employ our upstate brethren at the Chobani factory? What a bizarre comment. — TG on Nosy Neighbor: Chobani in Target is closed
So thrilled about the TriBeCa Wines & Spirits AND the Shakespeare & Co. news. Great news in a sea of empty storefronts. — TG on Streetscape: Tribeca Wines moving to West Bway
They moved the women's store up to Soho. So I presume taking over some space in their men's store on Broome St. — DW on Streetscape: Tribeca Wines moving to West Bway
super sad - it was a fabulous place the kids loved going every weekend. They had the best Chili in the winter too. Nice people worked there and we never had a bad meal. — T on Nosy Neighbor: Chobani in Target is closed
RIP UBK. i miss you already! — MADELINE LANCIANI on Seen & Heard: Local kids get film in festival
Yes, but they have no end time set. — Pam Frederick on Streetscape: Tribeca Wines moving to West Bway
Yes, sorry. When I was there they said it was imminent (and that was Jan. 11!) so I figured by the time I published... I just checked in and they said they are (and have been) approved by the CB but still awaiting the license from the SLA. — Pam Frederick on New kid (just over) the border: Takeshi
Alright already. — Pam Frederick on Shed Report: When one window opens, a door slams shut
And now, 258 Broadway is surrounded with sidewalk scaffolding. The DoB has apparently targeted the neighborhood. — Makes You Go "Hmm-m-m" on Seen & Heard: Starting to see the light?
At 88 West Broadway those are not flying buttresses but curved knee braces. Flying buttresses are connected to the outside of a wall to prevent it from pushing outward, generally used with a vaulted ceiling. — Charlie on Shed Report: When one window opens, a door slams shut
You’re right. The last part opened yesterday and it’s also men’s, so the women’s is completely gone. — Hudson River on Streetscape: Tribeca Wines moving to West Bway
Regarding Suit Supply, I was told that the entire store will be Men's. The men's store was doing so well the they decided to take over the women's space. — Luis Vazquez (FiDi Fan Page) on Streetscape: Tribeca Wines moving to West Bway
Would be worth mentioning that they have no liquor license — NYtinkerbell on New kid (just over) the border: Takeshi
Monica + Andy is just a pop-up, AFAIK. — Hudson River on Streetscape: Tribeca Wines moving to West Bway
Now only if the SoHo location can close. It brings lot of undesirable traffic to the neighborhood and they do not dispose garbage properly!! — Tanya on Nosy Neighbor: Chobani in Target is closed
Sad to see it go because it was conveniently located and everything on their menu was tasty, but the location was terrible because there was no street visibility and you had to go way inside Target to find it. The Soho Cafe is much more in line with someplace that invites a visit. — Scott on Nosy Neighbor: Chobani in Target is closed
There's still more than a year to figure out those details. The article says charges will be done either electronically or based on photos of license plates. I would assume (or hope) that this implementation will be derived from studies of experience of other cities, especially London, Stockholm, and so on. — Marcus on In the News: Sweetgreen will take your cash
I first toured the island 14 years ago, as soon as they opened it up for reservations, and on my tour was a gal who had also grown up there. She described it as a child's fantasy. I can only imagine how fun it was when I walk around now... — Pam Frederick on Welcome Back: Governors Island opens today
I think the opposite will be true. I hope that congestion pricing dissuades the drivers passing through who use Broome and Canal Streets as a modern-day LOMEX just to avoid tolls. Those drivers do not shop in the area and that traffic only puts off those actual potential shoppers who think (like Yogi Berra said), "Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded." — James on In the News: Sweetgreen will take your cash
My 6 year old son and I call these busses "The Killer Connection" because we've often seen them speed up to fly through yellow lights on Murray Street to cross Church, W. Broadway and Greenwich. We've seen people jump out of their way. Why this dangerous rush? It's terrifying and very sad that we fear this community service. — Kerry on In the News: Woman killed by Downtown Alliance bus
