Founded by Matt Kliegman of The Smile and Noah Bernamoff of Mile End Deli, Black Seed sells hand-rolled, wood-fired Montreal-style bagels that are smaller and denser that modern-day bagels, but still recognizable as bagels (but don’t go hoping for a cinnamon raisin variety). You can get the traditional spreads and toppings, including excellent smoked fish; side dishes such as health salad and German potato salad; and Stumptown coffee. Black Seed is one of the most reliably delicious spots in Hudson Eats, as Brookfield Place’s food court is known, although the shop occasionally runs out of bagels.
