Cass Lilien has been selling her jewelry in the tiny space near The Harrison that used to be home to a gourmet-dog food store since September. I told her that I was positive that I had captured how pretty the necklace to the right is—that’s a green amethyst and a freshwater pearl, and it’s also available with a smoky quartz ($140 each)—but I didn’t. (Sorry, Cass.) Go see it in person! • 24 Harrison (bet. Hudson and Greenwich), 415-531-3589, casslilien.com.
It’s sort of embarrassing to admit how many of the neighborhood’s stores I had never set foot inside of before this project; on the other hand, I’ve had a blast learning how utterly lovely some of them are. Take Capucine: There’s much more to it—including a lower level—than I had guessed from the façade. I took about a hundred photos: of kids’ harlequin shoes (on sale for $49), adorable night lights ($20 each), a handmade pillow that could easily become an heirloom ($195), a very glamorous silver stool ($99), and for grown-ups, a tote ($229, down from $280) and earrings ($110). • 20 Harrison (bet. Euphoria Spa is selling a to-die-for half-day package—because a full-day is too much, don’t you think?—that includes a fresh-air facial, 60-minute m’n’m massage (“m’n’m” stands for “much-needed massage”), Javanese foot fetish (I don’t know either but I want it), spa appetizers (sounds healthy, alas), and a Champagne toast—three hours of Euphoria for $299. • 18 Harrison (bet. The folks at Tama have such an exquisite eye: The wonderful photography by Marc Kaczmarek—of lower Manhattan street art—provides a tangy counterpoint to the luxe furniture and objets d’art. If the set of mother-of-pearl forks ($950) is too much, consider this fabulous candle ($110)—the “flower” part is wax, too—or the one-of-a-kind cards ($12–$15). Kaczmarek’s prints, by the way, are $1170 for the large ones; a book of the pieces on display, New York Fresco Pop, can be purchased here for $42. • 5 Harrison (at Staple), 212-566-7030, tamagallery.biz.
Speaking of a great eye: For my money, the best Tribeca T-shirt is Farinella Bakery‘s ($20), and like the rest of the shop’s graphics, it was designed by owner Alberto Cretara. Farinella has also begun filling gift baskets with its Italian groceries, such as these cookies. • 90 Worth (bet. Broadway and Church), 212-608-3222, farinellabakery.com.
If you still haven’t stopped by Sasha Wolf Gallery to see Steven B. Smith’s black-and-white photographs of the new American west, you still have time—the show is up through January 9. Prints are $2,000; the one pictured is Evergreen, Colorado, 1999 (courtesy Sasha Wolf Gallery). • 10 Leonard (bet. W. Broadway and Hudson), 212-925-0025, sashawolf.com.
