Seen & Heard: Fudge Pops!

••• Rachel at Tribeca Treats taunted me with an email right as I was heading out of town: “As of today, we now have frozen fudge pops ($2.75 each) and frozen fruit pops ($2.50). The fudge pops are made with Valrhona cocoa powder, and we’re planning on adding variations including mocha, chocolate coconut and more. The fruit pops are made with real fruit purees. We’ve started with strawberry passion fruit, but we’re also adding other flavors to the line up including raspberry, blackberry pear, green apple, and more. The flavors are really intense, so they’re great for adults as well as kids.” (The photo is of pastry cook Jessica.) I’ll be in when I’m back….

••• The finalists and semifinalists in Babesta‘s photo contest have been posted at Babesta Cribz on Warren.

••• I’ve been obsessing over what’s happening to the space next to Steven Alan, on Franklin. The word on the street—or at least across it—is that the New York Academy of Art is expanding.

••• During the Bouley brouhaha, a commenter said that Tamarind is closing its Flatiron location. I called to ask if this was so, and the reservationist said no (which doesn’t mean it’s not, of course, but I’ll leave it to the Flatiron Citizen—or whatever they have up there—to follow up more….)

••• The Golden Palominos—college-radio flashback!—will reunite at City Winery on September 10. By the way, other City Winery concerts set for months away get announced fairly frequently, but I don’t note all of them (though they’ll all make their way to the calendar in time). So if you like the kind of music that gets played there, you should sign up for the venue’s newsletter.
