Seen & Heard: New Business

••• Guess what’s coming to the northeast corner of Church and Murray—a nail salon! (Affina Nails Spa & NYC Laser Center, to be precise.) How many nail salons are within a two-big-block radius of Chambers and W. Broadway? Ten? Related: The flower shop on that block of Church is reportedly moving around the corner, next to Takahachi Bakery.

••• Living Social has a deal for Moomah.

••• La Colombe‘s bottled coffee will be available at its New York City cafés starting Aug. 8.

••• The Reade-facing storefronts at Reade57 77 Reade have been unveiled. They look nice—now let’s hope they don’t get rented to more nail salons (or even worse, RHX). [Thanks for the correction, Anna! I walk by each building several times a day—one would think I”d get the addresses straight by now.]

  1. I’ll definitely try La Colombe’s bottled coffee. I’ll have to compare it to the cold brew that I’ve been getting in growlers from Nolita Mart on Mott St, which is delicious. Bottling cold brew is a fabulous idea during the summer.

  2. I think that’s 77 Reade actually. Any news, though, on when Reade 57 opens?!? Would be nice for the scaffolding to come down!

  3. @Anna: Thanks! They’re getting close to marketing it (https://tribecacitizen.wpengine.com/2011/07/13/in-the-news-911-relics/) so I’d imagine the scaffolding will be removed soon-ish. I’d just like those big chunks of Broadway and Reade back—they aren’t really using what they’ve closed off with Jersey barriers.

  4. Somebody should open a combination French restaurant and nail salon and call it Snails & Nails….but seriously the amount of nail salons in a geographic area should be regulated…it’s absurd down here

  5. At least it’s not a Starbucks.

  6. Speaking of Reade, what is going on with that Maxwell’s place?

  7. @Ernie: They said they were about to open, but they haven’t. I keep walking by hoping to see someone to ask, but I never do. The website says “opening this July,” so….
