The back story: A trio of Hearst magazines partnered with 250 West for Designer Visions, showhouses that were supposed to be kicked off with a big party on Oct. 30. Hurricane Sandy intervened, and my plan to go to the party (yes, I was invited) and scope out the public spaces as well as the showhouses fell by the wayside. I’m a little iffy on showhouses, especially advertorial ones—I prefer to see real people’s homes—but those of you who just want decorating inspiration in a Tribeca setting will be in heaven. (The first one is here and the second is here.)
UPDATE 11/23: In response to the uncouth way I called the apartment boring, Hearst sent over more photos—and I happily recant that opinion. The crisp monochromaticness, if that’s a word, is rather elegant. Love the (2-D?) statue in the window.
This one is by Matthew Patrick Smyth. “In designing these interiors I imagined a ride on the Orient Express,” he told Elle Decor. The photos are by Björn Wallander; click to enlarge.
