Goodbye Furniture, Hello Kids

Big changes are afoot at the intersection of Hudson and Beach/Ericsson.

1. Pompanoosuc Mills is moving one door to the south, into the space where the Egg Baby pop-up was (and before that, Design Within Reach). It should be done relocating in a month or so, and it’s planning on using the smaller space for a more focused selection. Also: Floor model sale on now.

2. Pompy’s soon-to-be-former space will be divided in two. The Hudson-facing part (including the lower level) will be an annex for Tribeca Community School, while the Ericsson-facing part is to become a Little Gym. Do I even need to tell you that the franchised chain is for children?

3. Baker is closing its Tribeca location—the Great Furniture Exodus continues—but it still has an outpost on the third floor of 200 Lexington.

4. A Baker staffer said that “a school—possibly a Montessori school”—is taking over (presumably all of) its Hudson Street space. I tried asking over at the Montessori School of Manhattan, just down Beach Street, but no response yet.
