Seen & Heard: Edible Arrangements Is Open

Orens Daily Roast in FiDi••• Inspired by David G. Imber’s insistence that Oren’s Daily Roast is a worthwhile addition to FiDi (on William just below Fulton), I stopped by for a macchiato. It was indeed very good! And the café has Early Bird granola and snack-size packs of Tate’s cookies, so what else do you need?

••• Edible Arrangements is open at 143 Duane.

••• Congratulations to Craig Bero and the Cosmopolitan Café for winning a Helping Hand Award from the NYC Department of Small Business Services: “With 1010 WINS radio, we asked New Yorkers to help recognize the businesses, organizations, and individuals that went above and beyond for their communities after Hurricane Sandy. As a winner, you represent the true spirit of New York City—demonstrating that New Yorkers can and will band together during difficult times and come back even stronger.”

••• The windows at the old ExerBlast space on Reade have been papered. Anyone know what’s up there? Email me at tribecacitizen@gmail.com or call/text 917-209-6473. All tips are anonymous.

••• Signage at Telepan Local!

••• Mel Furukawa’s floral shop is “sort of open,” but he’s waiting till after Labor Day to be truly open, so you’ll have to wait till then for a full report.

••• From Cara Macari of Urban Athletics: “I am helping The Leukemia Lymphoma Society  on an amazing project called, Moms in Training. This is a fundraising program for new moms, with this being the first season in Tribeca/Battery Park City. We emphasize running and social events for moms, with the goal of running a five mile race at completion of an 8 week program. Our kickoff is on 9/21. Runs will take place on Pier 25, and are for new and novice runners, particularly new moms, who have taken time away from working out who crave that social connection with other moms. We’ve already had a great response from Moms, and the program raised more than $300,000 in only 8 weeks last spring.” More info in this Moms In Training flyer.
