Saks Fifth Avenue to Open Two Stores Downtown

Not sure how I missed this, but late last week WWD reported that Saks Fifth Avenue is about to sign on at Brookfield Place. What’s more, the company will also open a branch of its off-price store, Saks Off Fifth, in FiDi—a shot across the bow of Century 21…. Racked‘s summary of the WWD article (which is behind a paywall) says that “though both Saks and Brookfield Place denied to comment for the WWD article, sources said that the full-line department store would take a significant amount of space in the shopping center.”

Let’s look at the Brookfield Place floor plans…. The likeliest space, I’d wager, is on the first floor, in the southeast corner.

  1. Glamming up the neighborhood !!

  2. I may never have to go above Canal again!

  3. This is WAY better than another nail salon!

  4. Isn’t that space still one of the corporate health clubs?

  5. I’m loving this competition between Brookfield & Westfield for high-end tenants. It’s great for downtown. Although the cynical (realistic?) side of me is waiting for the rent hikes to hit – I’m tipping 2015?
