Seen & Heard: Demolition in Northwest Tribeca

••• “The Four Seasons is up to 30 floors already,” tweeted Vicki Winters, along with this photo.

The Flea schedule••• The Flea released its fall lineup.

••• When I posted about the Community Board 1 Tribeca Committee discussion regarding American Flatbread’s sidewalk café (and how neighbors acros Desbrosses were concerned about noise), I mistakenly used a photo of the restaurant’s northern corner instead of its southern one—which has no bevel.

••• Ellen commented that a New York Times photographer was spotted at Racines NY the other day—so presumably the restaurant is about to get reviewed.

Brookfield Place closure••• From Brookfield Place: “The waterfront entrance to the Courtyard will be closed temporarily for construction on Monday, July 21 at 6 pm. It will reopen on Saturday, July 26.” That means if you’re trying to get to Hudson Eats from the north, you shouldn’t enter the complex from Vesey.

••• From Jay at the Tribeca Greenmarket: “New on Saturdays: Yellow peaches, plums, raspberries, black raspberries, eggplant, and summer apples.” I has the black raspberries last week—they were fantastic. “New on Wednesdays: White peaches, plums, potatoes, bell pepper, string beans and eggplant.” Also, he’s looking for locals interested in doing a ‘cooking with the locals’ demo at the market. Contact jledoux@grownyc.org.

••• Demolition appears to have started at 264 West (at Vestry); thanks for the pic, M.! The Department of Buildings website shows a permit filed July 11, but it’s “in hub self-service” (which I’m guessing mean someone has the permit open) “and cannot be viewed until accepted.” This is where Related is planning a building.

  1. I’ll be interested to read the review of Racines. I had an absolutely horrible experience there in late June. I tried to contact the manager by phone later that week to discuss our experience privately but my messages were never returned. I had never posted on Open Table or any similar review site before but this was so bad and the attitude so arrogant I went ahead and posted.
