••• The Odeon, which had closed because of damage from a fire above it, reopens as of lunch today.
••• The souvenir shop on Church (Warren/Murray) that recently closed left such a sad, sweet note in the window.
••• After a tasty lunch at El Vez yesterday—sometimes you just need enchiladas—I noticed that signage for the restaurant’s adjacent Burrito Bar is up. A rep says El Vez Burrito, as it’ll be known, will open in the last week of February, for dining in and takeout. No menu yet. I did notice that one of the two burritos on El Vez’s main menu includes ground beef. Flashbacks ensued.
••• Matt Bernson is having a “winter breakup sale” event tomorrow (Thursday) night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.: “Take an extra 25% off all sale styles already marked at 50% off.” Plus: snacks, free tote with purchase, and more.
••• Thalassa will start offering lunch (noon to 3 p.m.) on February 16—it’s for Restaurant Week (through March 6), so there’s a three-course prix fixe for $25, but also a regular lunch menu (below).
••• Check out this photo from 1976—it’s of Chambers Street, looking west toward the river. Jane Freeman sent it over; the photo is by Linda Freeman.
••• I posted the answer to last week’s Where in Tribeca…?, which proved to be a stumper.
••• Demolition is in full effect at 101 Murray.

thanks for sharing that note… my heart always ached for the owner who mostly sat alone in his store, everything so neatly arranged and folded… wondering how in God’s name he ever made ends meet. very sad :(
