Location: Community Board Office, 49-51 Chambers Street, Room 709
1) Temporary Public Plaza on West Broadway between Franklin and Leonard Streets – Presentation by Lynn Ellsworth, Chair, Tribeca Trust This will likely get ugly, because at last month’s meeting, several members of the committee were apoplectic about the possibility.
WBroadway bet Franklin and Leonard2) Borough of Manhattan Community College – Update by Scott Anderson, Vice President for Administration and Planning Could we be getting news about BMCC leaving?
BMCC from Pier 253) Proposed CitiRack [sic?] bike coral at 181 Duane Street – Presentation by NYC Department of Transportation and resolution No clue what this is about. 181 Duane is where Max is, and there’s already a Citi Bike station one door down. So what’s being “proposed” here?
181 Duane4) 77 Worth Street, application for tavern license for RBC Bar Inc. – Resolution The new incarnation of Atera has said it would be opening a bar. I don’t know if it’ll be in the basement, as before…. I had always thought the old RBC café space would be a likely spot for an Atera bar, but that’s at 71 Worth. Then again, if you go to the café’s old website, rbcnyc.com, it says “RBC Bar Inc.” And the Department of Buildings seems to consider 65-77 Worth one property.
5) 41 Murray Street, application for restaurant liquor license for Rosa Mexicano Murray LLC – Resolution As discussed here.
6) 221 W. Broadway, application for sidewalk cafe for North of Houston LLC d/b/a White Street – Resolution We’ll see if they mean on W. Broadway or White.
7) 385 Greenwich Street aka N. Moore Street, application for restaurant liquor license for Aemal LLC d/b/a Belzer – Resolution The online trail led to a dead end. Googling “Aemal LLC” indicates the incorporation address at 65 W. Broadway #3N. The nameplate for #3N says “Sandpiper Group”—but that didn’t lead to anything. I asked Saleya (also at 65 W. Broadway) if it was them, and they said no. And Belzer doesn’t bring up anything. UPDATE: See MG’s intriguing comment about this.
8) Draft Tribeca Committee Liquor License Application Guideline revisions – Resolution Tribeca

7/9 Landmarks Committee – 6:00 PM
Location: Community Board Office,
49-51 Chambers Street, Room 709
1) 17 Leonard Street, application for restoration of existing 3-story masonry facade and addition of two-story rooftop addition – Resolution So those new windows on the east side of neighboring 15 Leonard are lot line windows?! Meanwhile, poor Leonard Street can’t catch a break from all the construction.
17 Leonard2) 456 Greenwich Street, application to replace a non-contributing garage building with a new six-story hotel building with rooftop features – Resolution We knew this was coming, but the phrase “rooftop features” should cause concern for anyone who lives in the surrounding area—because if they’re thinking bar, restaurant, or anything like that, it’s going to get noisy. (From what the news first broke: The Commercial Observer said that the hotel will have “a restaurant with a bar, a 1,500-square-foot interior courtyard, a spa, a swimming pool, meeting space and a screening room.” And: “Plans may also include a private member club.”) The rendering is here—and it sure looks like they have big plans for the roof.

456 Greenwich3) 366 Broadway, application to install ramp and stairs – Resolution

  1. one tiny tidbit – LinkedIn shows a Lawrence Green working as Director of Operations for a Sandpiper Group, with a 15 year history working as beverage director for McNally restaurants (and a brief subsequent stint at wichcraft). Who knows if it’s the same Sandpiper and not much there anyway but, it’s a thing.

  2. Re: Hotel rooftop noise – city noise ordinances will always apply, so if they are being noisy repeated calls to 311 should help keep things in check.

Here’s to them being good neighbors .

It certainly will be more of a plus to the neighborhood then either of the usual options
    a) Another quickly slapped together 100 yr lease rental property
    or
    b) yet another overpriced and poorly constructed new condo

  3. Not sure where to put this — I love the TC!!! Keep up the great work.
