In the News: Final Design for the 456 Greenwich Hotel

456 Greenwich approved rendering456 Greenwich Street - Supplemental LPC Submission_2015-08-20 Be••• The Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a slightly revised design for the hotel coming to 456 Greenwich (the block of Desbrosses between Greenwich and Washington). —”The chef Ignacio Mattos and his partner, Thomas Carter, who own the independent-minded small plate walk-up Estela, will now go Italian in a bright, airy space” called Café Altro Paradiso at 234 Spring Street (Avenue of the Americas). “They envision a more traditional menu, divided into starters, pastas, mains and desserts; they will do breakfast, lunch and dinner. (December).”
“No longer able to hang his toque at Commerce, which closed, Harold Moore has lined up a hotel gig” at Tommie Hudson Square (231 Hudson), “delivering comfort food in the Southern tradition: meat and three sides. (December).” It’s be called Harold’s Meat & Three. And Moore has another “hotel gig” on the Upper West Side, says Eater.

••• In its article about Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s plans for the Seaport, the Wall Street Journal ran a rendering of how the roof of Pier 17 might look during a fashion event. That rectangle on the right is a runway, and it’s surrounded by crowds of people.

  1. Ummmm, CB1’s FiDi Committee WAS into the idea. We passed the resolution though we asked that they add the date. It just needs to be confirmed by the Board as a whole at the end of the month. :-)
