After 13 years in Soho, NYC Elite has moved its flagship gymnastics facility to 44 Worth Street—and nearly doubled in size. The 100 Avenue of the Americas location was 13,000 square feet, while this one is 22,000 square feet—and it feels even larger, because the ceilings are so high. But NYC Elite is still a family business, owned and operated by mother-daughter team Marianne and Tina Ferriola, both of whom live in Tribeca. And the focus is the same: Young gymnasts of all ages and abilities are welcome, from novices to those pursuing college scholarships. The ground floor is mainly for recreational gymnasts, while the downstairs level is for team gymnasts. And of course NYC Elite offers summer camps and birthday parties on weekends. P.S. The space was once a Chemical Bank branch, so there’s a massive vault downstairs. “We’re the only gym with a real vault!” says Marianne.
NYC Elite is at 44 Worth (at Church), 212-334-3628; nycelite.com.
