Seen & Heard: Rosa Mexicano Is Opening Next Week

••• The website for Rosa Mexicano’s Tribeca outpost says it’s opening this Tuesday, and that the downstairs bar, Masa y Agave, will debut the following day. The PR folks say it’s “officially Wednesday,” so have a back-up plan if you go Tuesday. (Thanks to Luis Vazquez of FiDi Fan Page for the heads-up.)

••• And Maman tweeted that its new café in the old Maslow 6 space on W. Broadway will open in late November.

••• The Roxy Hotel’s weekend brunch once again includes free screenings of kids’ movies at 11 a.m. (Schedule here.)

••• When J&R closed a year and a half ago, it said the plan was to “rebuild this location into what we hope will be an unprecedented retailing concept and social mecca. In order to facilitate this exciting new initiative, the buildings that J&R occupies have to be totally reimagined and redeveloped.” There’s been no sign of any movement to that effect.

••• While the interiors of 443 Greenwich might be a ways off, most of the windows appear to be done. It’s going to be a nice reveal.

443 Greenwich windows••• Finally, some momentum at the pizzeria coming to the former Zoie’s Café storefront at 49 Beach: “The work on the place has begun in earnest,” says Andrea. “They were hauling out old equipment and demolishing inside some more last week, and now they’re finishing the installation of the blue plywood fence.”

••• Don’t let the banner for Simon Business School fool you: It’s not taking over New York Law School. From Crain’s: “The University of Rochester’s Simon Business School […] will take space in an academic building owned and occupied by New York Law School. Both schools will be able to occupy 185 W. Broadway because Simon Business School’s programs are offered only on weekends, while New York Law School runs classes during the week and on weeknights.”

  1. The 3 other J&R buildings have permits for demolition as well as the hardware store (J&R interests bought that building recently as well). New apartments?
