••• “Several top restaurant/retail brokers told The Post the [Joël] Robuchon team ‘didn’t have its act together’ at Brookfield Place and at several locations it scouted previously. But Robuchon’s investment partner blamed ‘old’ bricks and mortar for his retreat.” —New York Post

••• “Because the BPCA has invited anyone with a question to submit it in advance, The Broadsheet asked several dozen community leaders about issues they would like to see addressed at this meeting.” The “Open Community Meeting” is this Wednesday.

••• A New York Times editorial on the proposed Pier 40 air rights swap is so pro-development it sounds like it belongs in Crain’s: “Development of any kind always proves problematical in that part of Manhattan, where deeply ingrained not-in-my-backyard sentiments have helped sink a succession of proposals at the star-crossed pier. The coming review process, which includes the community board, borough president, Planning Commission and City Council, promises to bring the naysayers out in force.” Not sure about the succession of proposals, but yes, the last one—devised in secret with no community involvement—raised hackles the way it would anywhere in the city. (In case you missed it: renderings of the massive complex that could be built on the river.)
