••• The word is that Grazin’ has closed, as was expected. I’m out of town so I can’t verify it, beyond calling (there was no answer). UPDATE: “They are in fact closed,” commented Michael. “I went there on Monday evening for dinner and the gate is down.”
••• From M.: “I just asked a worker coming out of the new Best Market when they’d be opening and he said in about two weeks.”
••• Looks like the Django is busting into new territory with a burlesque show. First Belle Reve, now this…. Maybe Baked should put those cake poles to work. (FYI: The tweet was from yesterday.)
••• “The former Trinity Boxing Club space has unfortunately become a hideous new souvenir shop,” emailed Hudson River. “There is already one on that block, and it looks like part of the Riff Hotel will have another. Can’t we get a nail salon in there?”
••• February 28 at the Schimmel Center: The Intergalactic Nemesis Live-Action Graphic Novel. “The premise is simple: a period adventure story (with no small share of laughs) featuring Pulitzer-winning reporter Molly Sloan, her intrepid assistant Timmy Mendez, and a mysterious librarian named Ben Wilcott as they face the most serious threat Earth has ever known: an impending invasion of sludge monsters from the planet Zygon. […] While three actors, one Foley artist, and one keyboardist perform all the voices, sound effects and music, more than 1,000 hand-drawn, full-color, hi-rez, blow-your-mind comic-book images blast from the screen, all performed live.”

They are in fact closed. I went there on Monday evening for dinner and the gate is down. Loved the concept and the food… a little pricey.
I stopped in at Best Market & they said they will be opening between the 15th & 22nd!
Nice!
Saw groceries being delivered to Best Market this morning.
This is like the launch of a new product from Apple! When can we start lining up outside Best Market’s entrance with our lawn chairs and mini-tents? Note to all fashionasties: Canada Goose jackets are not welcome, even the Coat Drive would not accept them this year.
I think one/a big reason people are excited about Best Market opening because it’s a way for neighborhood people to connect with each other again considering the west side of Greenwich Street between Whole Foods and No.Moore has been pretty dead the past two months plus with Duane Reade being the only business open on it. It’ll be nice to see the neighborhood congregate to shop for groceries again.
The pixie dust is in aisle 4 next to the canned malarkey.
Wow nasty today aren’t we?
Yeah, I unlike you have lived in this neighborhood almost all my life and I missed the bustle of people coming in and out of Food Emporium, so sue me.
Stick to naming where things are in TriBeCa, jerk.
I meant to say I missed the sense of community Food Emporium in its own small way fostered.
Relaxatives & jerky are both in aisle 6.
Residency medals will not be available at this location.
Bigmouth behind a computer screen.
exactly Canada Goose jackets not welcome. You wouldn’t want to be seen going into Best Market anyway. God forbid someone see you. Can’t wait for our new store ! Hopefully it last and the landlord don’t pull a fast one on them. the closing of numerous stores in the area has gotten me down. There should be a cap or laws for landlords in the city. They are out of control.
Spoke to someone at the front of Best Mark who looked like they knew stuff…said it was opening Feb 16th!
As i looked out my window, I saw a dairy truck parked right in front of Best Market this morning around 8:30 AM, so that is a great sign…looks like that could well be the case (that they are planning to open by early next week)…
We should be seeing more and more food delivery trucks by there now…
I’ll be soooo glad to see it open, so i can stop ordering through peapod every week (lol)…And i hate Whole Foods (lol)…
Hey Jim I’m not looking for a “residency medal”. You, however, look for where things are in TriBeCa – again stick to that, bigmouth.
Btw why’d you disable the reply button, Erik? Jim Smithers is being insulting to me, yet I can’t send it back.
Each comment is allowed a certain number of comments and then the reply function is automatically turned off. Now can you both just let this one go?
With all due respect Erik I didn’t start anything, Jim Smithers did, and what part of what I wrote below was nasty, insulting, or rude to him? Nothing, so he’s the one who should “let it go”. I’m out.

Yes, no problem, Erik. I know when I have been defeated. I am going to pick me up some humble pie over in the baked goods. See, I am telling you where things are in Tribeca (Best Market).
Speaking of supermarkets … FWIW, I heard that Brooklyn Fare is planning to open their newest store in The Archive at 666 Greenwich in March or April.
Indeed. And it’s a very interesting story of how the deal came to be: https://tribecacitizen.wpengine.com/2015/04/30/in-the-news-the-first-express-starbucks/
Jim “Bigmouth Jerk” Smithers vs. A “I’m not the Big Meanie who started it!” Blankety-Blank the funniest rumble in the comments section I’ve seen in years.
Oh yeah!
Agreed. Had me laughing.
