“Upon encountering someone in the apartment, he said ‘sorry’ and left,” reports a reader. Her doors were locked—the thief cut through a window screen—but during a similar spree of break-ins in 2013, many of the incidents occurred because residents left doors open or unsecured. So lock your doors!
