A Sibling Restaurant for the Greek
An exciting addition to the agenda for the Community Board 1 Tribeca Committee, which meets this Wednesday:
412 Greenwich Street, application for liquor license for entity to be formed by Tom Gialamboukis
That’s at the Sterling Mason (southwest corner of Greenwich and Laight), and Tom Gialamboukis is better known as Tom Galis (above), who opened The Greek two blocks up Greenwich in 2013. My first thought was that the Greek might be moving—there has been some friction with the landlord—but Galis says he’s planning an all-day operation in the new space, with café, wine bar, and restaurant components. (Yes, it’ll be Greek.) The lease isn’t a done deal yet, so that’s all we get till Wednesday’s meeting.
P.S. I’m not sure which storefront it is; the photo below is just one I had on hand.
UPDATE: The notice posted on the building says the working names are Pnevma (Spirit), Chroma, and Tribeca FIX. It also says the proposed hours are 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Hopefully the State Liquor Authority having issued a fine to the Greek will not matter here.
Those hours make absolutely no sense in that residential area.
It’s pretty unlikely that CB1 would agree to 4am; 2am on Fri/Sat is their usual limit for larger streets (such as Greenwich). I imagine that The Greek will argue it has a good reputation and deserves an exception, or maybe the 4am is just a starting point in a negotiation.
Agreed those hours are ridiculous for that very residential area.
That is also a very large space and filled with that many people would be serious noise for the residents of that building.
I don’t know that it’s the entire space. The application estimates only 50 seats at tables and 10 seats at a bar.
