The Great Poke Rush Continues

The Great Poke Rush show no signs of abating. J. noticed that Nanzan Poke is opening 240A Canal (between Lafayette and Centre), taking the space formerly occupied by Chatime. That makes four restaurants in the area—with several others in FiDi—specializing in the Hawaiian dish of rice, raw fish, and seasonings: Humble Fish on Lispenard, Poke Bowl on Canal, and the soon-to-open Eastward Poke on Church. How long till Whole Foods converts its burger bar into a poke stall?

  1. Don’t forget newly opened Pokespot farther up on Centre, Simple on Eldridge, or Chikarashi on Canal and Lafayette.

  2. Poke, childrens’ stores and steakhouses – this neighborhood is becoming inundated. BTW, a foodie friend tells me that the best steakhouse in Japan is likely to open a place in the neighborhood soon. Perhaps in old Dylan Prime or Nobu spaces?? I like all of the poke selections because it is very healthy.

  3. They’re open! Soft opening going on now- buy one get one free or 30% off your order. Tried it tonight. Just like any other poke spot. Good stuff. Go get it while it’s still under 10 bucks a bowl during soft opening!
