••• 1803, the new restaurant where Church Publick was, is now open for lunch on weekdays.
••• The World of Gold N’ Diamond, which closed when co-owner Omid Gholian was murdered there (no word on by whom), will evidently not be reopening. RKF has listed the space (193 Church). Also, the listing lists “AT&T (coming soon)” as one of the neighboring businesses, so I guess I was right that a phone store is opening in the former Elena Ab Gallery at 185 Church.
••• Governors Island will be able to stay open late on more days if the Friends of Governors Island can get 100 more members signed up. (An individual membership is $50; a family membership is $100. All or nearly all is tax deductible.) Why join?
—We’re open even longer this season, until October 31. This year, enjoy a longer season on GI and great member benefits all year long! (All memberships are valid for one-year from date of issue.)
—Great perks, like free ferry access and bike pass from Blazing Saddles
—Members-only events, like early access hours and exclusive insider tours of the Island
—Discounts at Island Oyster, Little Eva’s, the Welcome Center shop and more!
—Discounted tickets to on-Island events like the Jazz Age Lawn Party and the first ever Pop Up Dinner
••• I was intrigued to see that Yves is serving frozen cocktails (in case this summer really heats up). Below: The Paloma.
