Seen & Heard: A Peek Inside Greca

••• Greca has recently posted a few selfies on Instagram.

••• Since when did it become acceptable to bring a cup of coffee into a restaurant? I’ve seen this recently at Pasquale Jones and De Maria (twice). Do people not realize how rude that is? Or do they not care?

••• I heard back from Y7 Studio: They’re shooting to open the Tribeca location in early February.

••• And a staffer at another Blue Bottle café said the one at the Walker Hotel Tribeca is still on; they’re just waiting for construction to be completed.

••• In September of 2014, when Saks Fifth Avenue announced that a Saks Off 5th discount store would be opening at 1 Liberty Plaza, the word (via the New York Times) was that “the Off 5th outlet location may not open for several years because Brooks Brothers, which currently occupies the space, has a lease that runs through 2017.” I called the store to ask if it’s closing, and I was told no, for what that’s worth. Saks’s parent company, Hudson’s Bay, has been under some pressure lately, so it’s possible that the store isn’t happening. Ive reached out to a PR contact. UPDATE: Still no word from Saks Off 5th PR, but Luis had this to say: “I heard that Brooks Brothers signed an extension for their lease and that they want to keep part of the space long term with Saks Off Fifth taking a smaller space than originally intended.”

  1. I heard that Brooks Brothers signed an extension for their lease and that they want to keep part of the space long term with Saks Off Fifth taking a smaller space than originally intended.

  2. If the Saks Off 5th isn’t happening that would be awful for Westfield as the possible additional presence of a “discount” store was what killed the luxury plans they had for street level (which I remember at a point including Tiffany, Tom Ford, etc.).
