In the News: Tetsu’s Basement Dinners Start at $380

••• Tetsu‘s basement dining room, called Basement, opens Thursday. It’s “an intimate enclave for special kaiseki dinners served Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, at $350 per person plus tax, tip and beverages.” I called it $380 in the headline because you can not drink and not tip (you schmuck), but you’re paying the tax no matter what. —New York Times

••• “Westville lovers will be excited to hear that the American mini-chain has added new vegetables to its menu for the first time since it opened in 2003.” UPDATE: A rep says that the menu has changed since 2003, but not in recent years. —Eater
