An All-Day Café Is Opening on Hudson Street

The other big news—besides Seamore’s taking over the Amada space—at last night’s meeting of the Community Board 1 Licensing Committee involved 112 Hudson, on the west side of the Franklin/N. Moore block. (That’s where Le Dû’s Wines was going to open a store before the State Liquor Authority shot it down.) A reader had heard that a sushi bar is opening there, but that’s not so: Noted Tribeca will be an all-day café, with cocktails at night.

“We want to get away from frying and grilling, and instead focus on boiling and steaming,” said one of the proprietors. I didn’t catch her name, but I believe her husband, Minho Yang, is listed on the application, and the two of them have another establishment, For:Ground, at Fifth Avenue and E. 41st Street. The sample menu (below) includes toasts, bowls, and salads, with a bit of seafood but no other meat.

  1. Forground is really great! I hope the new place in Tribeca will be similar.

  2. Hope they will put in better furniture than midtown. TINY wooden slabs for coffee and cramped space is downer for $5 cofffee.
