Seen & Heard: Who’s Lived in Tribeca the Longest?

••• Whole Foods has taken yet another turn toward the mass-market. (Pun intended.)

••• I hear that Upper East Side kids’ spa Milk & Cookies is sniffing around the former Nobu space. “The spa offers the ultimate experience for kids to get pampered,” says the company’s website. “Services include mani, pedis, and fun facials. And there’s a Cool Dudes section designed especially for boys, with temporary tattoos and ‘booger’ soap. Parent/child packages are also available.” Anyone know anything?

••• According to this sign at the Canal Street Post Office, finding a mailbox is about to get 50 percent harder.

••• A late addition to the slate of Tribeca Film Festival talks: “High School Musical—12th Anniversary Celebration” on April 26. “The definitive modern musical, Kenny Ortega’s 2006 Disney Channel Original Movie directly inspired subsequent entries in the genre, including La La Land and The Greatest Showman. Anchored by star-making performances, HSM remains a generational touchstone. After the screening: a conversation with director Kenny Ortega and actors Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, and Ashley Tisdale. Moderated by Rookie editor and actor Tavi Gevinson.” Tickets are available here, if they haven’t already sold out.

••• There’s a lovely new Instagram account: TribecaPoopPatrol. “We’re coming after the poop scofflaws!” it says.

••• Carolyn shoots this Thursday in the W. Broadway/Leonard area. According to IMDB, it’s is a biopic of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy (“The tragic true story of America’s sweetheart-in-law”), starring Blake Lively and Henry Cavill.

••• The Senior Center at Independence Plaza North is sponsoring a contest to find the person who has lived in Tribeca the longest. The prize is a new condo Bazzini gift basket. Hurry up and enter! The deadline is today, April 1, better known as the day you get played for a fool if you don’t read all the way to the end.

  1. HAHA! ALMOST fell for all of it.

  2. Don’t give the Canal Street post office any such ideas!

  3. I wish the poop patrol were real given so many inconsiderate neighborhood dog owners.

  4. It’s bad enough that anything over 13 ounces, which the post office considers a pound (in the real world 16 ounces is a pound) has to be brought to the post office, but a lot of people don’t work near a post office. Leave the mailboxes.

  5. But my kids NEED those facials to get their skin as soft as their classmates from the UES.

  6. Those spots where the mailboxes are located are prime real estate spots. USPS will probably sell those spots to some RE developer including its air rights.

  7. Some time ago USPS eliminated about 50% of the then existing street post office boxes in the nabe. This new purge should reduce the existing ones to about a quarter of the original number. Some of the boxes still extant are so stuffed with mail by the end of the day that you can’t put anything more into them. All in the name of “efficiency” — gimme a break.

  8. DOG poop is really disgusting for residents. We should be calling out anyone who doesn’t curb their dog. Owners seem to be happy to let dogs go wherever they want.

  9. Including and especially the air rights!

  10. People are horrible and rude, they curse me every time I tell them to clean their poop, they poop on the playground and on the smallest park. Now, they don’t even get fines

  11. I called out someone today on Broadway who didn’t clean up after her very large dog made a very large poop. Her excuse? “I’ve trained him to poop on the subway grates”…as if no one ever walks on the subway grates! And it would take a helluva rain storm to flush that massive load through the grates.
