••• It appears that the Smyth hotel is no longer to be rebranded as an A.K.A. property. It’s no longer part of the Thompson Hotels group, and it has been removed from the A.K.A. website. Instead, the hotel seems to be going it alone, but as part of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts marketing network. I tried calling the sales office twice to get an explanation, but my calls went unreturned.

••• Glad to see DanceBody found a new home after 51 Warren didn’t work out (but too bad it’s in NoMad).

••• Regarding the imminent closure of its New Amsterdam branch on Murray Street, the New York Public Library sent a press release with an explanation—and, unfortunately, a reopening date that’s even further off: “To better serve the community, the Library will be replacing the branch’s decades-old cooling system, which impacted service last summer. The renovation will also add two new accessible bathrooms for the public, new ADA compliant entry doors, and a hearing loop for the branch’s multi-purpose room. The Library will also undergo upgrades to its fire alarm and sprinkler system, and receive general cosmetic improvements. The branch is expected to reopen in late 2019.” (So it’s more like a year and a half than a year.)
