Licensing Committee (May 9):
—221 West Broadway, Compliance with Stipulations by Town Stages. [One issue is certainly whether Town Stages has been getting individual liquor licenses for events such as this one the other day.]
—70 Pine Street Ground Floor and 62, 63 ,64, 66 Floor, application for liquor license for EBNB 70 Pine Street Restaurant. [Last we had heard, former Nomad chef James Kent was said to be opening the restaurant/bar, but I don’t know if that was ever confirmed. The headline says “other” because of Danny Meyer’s restaurant atop 28 Liberty.]
—Street Activity Permit Office application for The Beekman Hotel; Car Park; Sidewalk and street closure; Monday, June 18, 2018; 8:00 AM – 9PM; Nassau between Ann and Beekman.

Quality of Life Committee (May 17):
—Loading/Unloading Zone in front of 57 Reade Street – presentation by Dustin Zucker.

••• We can finally start to see what the western side of 49 Chambers will look like with a lot of new windows punched in.

••• The School of Visual Arts has a pop-up gallery at 371 Broadway.

••• The temporary entrance on Vesey to the World Trade Center mall got a mural/sign. It’s much more colorful than it appears in the photo.

••• One of my recent Enthusiasms was the Bill Charlap Trio, which I’m delighted to report is playing in the city soon: May 8-12 and 15-19 at Birdland. See you there?

    I can confirm that the James Kent restaurants are absolutely happening. I’ve already been to a tasting. :-) There will be two restaurants, both of which are as yet unnamed. The ground floor eatery will be 7,000 sf and the Observatory (taking up the top 5 floors of 70 Pine) will contain a pre-fixe restaurant, bar, lounge and outdoor terraces. It’s a spectacular space. Target opening date is November 1st.

    I’ve been shopping at Tent and Trails for at least 40 years. Not obsessively nostalgic, but it remains one of the best shops of its kind anywhere. I really can’t imagine this treasure shutting down.
