Seen & Heard: New Children’s Theater

••• 273 Church appears to be back on the market again. StreetEasy indicates that the building was sold in March, but there’s nothing remotely recent on ACRIS. Did the deal fall through? Is the new owner trying to flip it? I don’t know! (And, no, I didn’t ask the broker.) But it’d be a crying shame if Souths was given the boot for what turned out to be no good reason.

••• Reader question: “Is there anyone around here who teaches adults French? I think I’ve gone as far as I can with apps.”

••• Galli Theater New York, which stages productions for children, is opening in Tribeca according to an Instagram post. They won’t say exactly where, but since some shows are in German and it’s shooting to open in September, I’m going to guess it’s at the German School Manhattan (also aiming for September) on Warren.

••• And yet another shoot this week, on Wednesday for the TV show “Tell Me a Story,” starring Kim Cattrall. This flyer was at Church and Franklin, but they’re all over northeast Tribeca. From IMDB: “The world’s most beloved fairy tales are re-imagined as a dark and twisted psychological thriller set in modern day New York City, the first season of this serialized drama interweaves ‘The Three Little Pigs,’ ‘Little Red Riding Hood,’ and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ into an epic and subversive tale of love, loss, greed, revenge and murder.”

••• These LuggageHero signs have been popping up (including on Warren and Broadway, below), and for a while I wondered whether there’s really much of a market for luggage storage. Then I realized it’s for people in short-term rentals, who have to check out long before a flight (and who don’t have access to storage at, say, a hotel).

••• At the risk of fanning the flames on the peddler discussion, I just want to note that there weren’t any at 2 p.m. yesterday (Monday). Maybe they’re never there on Mondays, for all I know.

••• I had to go to Morgenstern’s yesterday for ice cream (and that sweatshirt), and for some dumb reason, I walked through Chinatown to get there. (If only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noonday sun, it’s an even rarer breed that braves Chinatown in this weather.) A few things I noticed on the way: Doyers Street is going to be closed to cars from August 1 to November 1; a nice-looking matcha café opened on the Bowery (where most of the storefronts are decidedly not nice); and check out that excellent hand-painted sign for Chung’s Candy & Soda Stand.
