In the News: Another Racially Motivated Attack

••• Update on 304 Hudson, which is one of four buildings that will be demolished by Disney for its new complex in Hudson Square: “While the tenants have demolition clauses, they have various lengths of time to vacate, but all of the space is expected to be broom clean sometime in 2019.” —New York Post

••• From the Tribeca Trib police blotter: “A 29-year-old Brooklyn woman had just exited from the subway [at Broadway and Canal] and was en route to 26 Federal Plaza when a woman punched her on the left side of her face and yelled, ‘Why are you looking at me white bitch?’ The assailant then fled.” Sounds like this incident last month. (Also notable in the blotter: “A 28-year-old Queens man got into an argument with a stranger who said to him, ‘I’m going to take your woman.’ The stranger then punched the victim, breaking his nose.”)

••• “Thousands of Honeybees call a Tribeca Terrace Home Sweet Home: For the third season, a local family maintains a colony of the busy insects above Greenwich Street.” —Tribeca Trib

••• “The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has closed a deal with Alma Bank for a 10-year, $5.5-million mortgage to restore monies to the unfinished St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at Liberty Park. […] The archdiocese hopes to resume construction on St. Nicholas in early September, according to a spokesman for the archdiocese, but the fresh funding is not enough to complete the project, whose has ballooned to $80 million.” —Downtown Express

  1. I love the Chapmans!! How wonderful. I think my little patio may be too exposed to the winds and weather facing North and 35 flights up but I will check out the NY Beekeepers website and see. Wonderful and yummy!
