Gap closes its Tribeca offices for COVID-19

It’s here. This is the second Tribeca connection to the dread coronavirus: Gap has closed its corporate offices at 55 Thomas after an employee tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is at home, and now the rest of the company has been asked to work from home as well.

This from the mothership in San Francisco: “On March 5 we learned that there is one case of COVID-19 in our Gap headquarters building in New York. As a result of this information, we closed our New York office and are asking employees to work from home until further notice.”

New York Law School remains closed, though as of yesterday no member of the community has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

  1. So what’s the vibe? Everyone seems to be taking it casually, life going on as normal down in Tribeca? A bit more staying at home this wknd, but we were already all washing our hands over the terrible flu this winter. A little early on our Spring Cleaning and glued to news streams. #coronavirus
Is it a modern marvel that it’s traveled from a market 9985 miles away to our doorstep as we’ve watched on a virtual global update map? Well, it’s a distraction from Politics…smh
