ENROLLMENT DOWN IN LOCAL SCHOOLS
Public schools opened today across the neighborhood and in every case, enrollment is down — especially at PS 234.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: FASHION SQUAD SCHOOL
Project Runway alum Layana Aguilar has expanded her afterschool kids classes in a new space on Warren, and will add a retail store for her fashion line later this fall.

NOSY NEIGHBOR: WHATS UP WITH THE SIDEWALK SHED AT 234?
The sidewalk bridge covering two sides of the school has been up for what I think is at least four years, and it looks like there’s a ways to go.

A NEW DIRECTOR FOR CHURCH STREET SCHOOL
The director of the Brooklyn Music School comes to Tribeca; Mulberry & Vine opens today; curbside composting will come back to the neighborhood.

SEEN & HEARD
Some retail coming back to life? At least the lights are on at Modell’s; Healthynest coming soon; comedy at Wagner Park; a couple last shots from 9/11, including La Marseillaise at Hook & Ladder 8.

The World Trade Center was packed Saturday night and just as busy yesterday, with visitors coming to the memorial and landing as far north as Hubert Street.
