Beefbar coming to former Nobu space

A. wrote to say that the former Nobu space in the Powell Building at 105 Hudson at Franklin has been leased to Beefbar — which may indeed be a fabulous place but has the worse name ever. And I like beef!

The global chain started in 2005, but is now franchised and includes 19 locations around the world — think Dubai, Malta, Saint Tropez — but none in the US. The concept was created in Monte Carlo by Riccardo Giraudi, whose idea was to “break the classic and stiff codes of steakhouses” with glamour and luxury — and street food. “Our menu is divided into 3 main axes: street food inspired by the most popular recipes from around the world, great meat cuts sourced in Australia, Japan and the United States, and iconic dishes, from sides to main and desserts.”

Nobu left in 2016 and the space has been empty since.

It will be interesting to see how they use the 9800 square feet at 105 Hudson. It’s dramatic, but not sure it can compete with Beefbar Paris!
