OneSeed’s restaurant has closed permanently

OneSeed, the healthy fast casual spot founded by Battery Park City resident Nicki Hamilton in fall 2021, has closed its restaurant at 111 Murray permanently, but that’s not the end. Hamilton is retooling her business model to offer prepared meals at home that they will deliver.

She is also focusing on large format corporate lunch catering — think pop-ups and guest chefs — at offices around the area. Follow her Instagram to see when she is nearby.

Hamilton started cooking healthy in 2014 after wrestling with a host of health issues, and the new diet worked. So she started developing recipes that, it turns out, check a lot of boxes (paleo, vegan, Whole30) and then launched her first restaurant concept in Dallas — Gather Kitchen. (She moved back to the neighborhood here before she saw it open.)

The  pandemic took its toll on so many of our local lunch spots, once the office worker failed to return: Tribecan Michelle Gauthier closed her five Mulberry & Vine locations in April; Homemade by Miriam closed in July; three spots up by Citi headquarters closed or never opened.

  1. Can’t blame her. Why pay retail rent if she can sell direct and save money for everyone.

  2. Paper went up over the windows in this space either yesterday or today for what appears to be a renovation for Brooklyn Bread
