BEC Report: Edith’s has closed

Because the world can’t get enough of bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches — and because neither can I — it seems there’s enough news to make a series.

Edith’s, the sandwich counter serving takes on old-world recipes that opened in June in the front of Tiny’s on the weekdays for breakfast and lunch, has closed permanently. This is really too bad since 1) her bagels and sandwiches were exceptional and 2) I thought this was a good way to make use of a kitchen that was mostly idle during the morning hours.

Owner Elyssa Heller said she had closed for the summer when we emailed in October but it’s clear now that it is no more — though her spot in Williamsburg seems to be open. “The Tribeca community has been incredibly supportive. We will miss being there but hoping to be back soon!” she wrote. Also, they cater.
