Big Gay Ice Cream, which has been percolating in 450 Washington and Desbrosses since 2022, is finally open, J. and H. report. I’ll get over there this week and check it out.
SMITH & MILLS NORTH
Not sure how this came across my radar just now but there’s now a Smith & Mills in Rockefeller Center. I think it may have just opened?? It’s actually in 30 Rock, closer to Sixth Avenue than Fifth. Good to know for when you are floundering for a good spot in Midtown… And it’s open for lunch, Tuesday to Friday.
TRIBECA, THE BAG
Did we know that Michael Kors has a bag named the Tribeca? That color is peanut. The description: “Our Tribeca bag proves you really can have it all.”

All the design mags love to see shots from inside the apartments of the celebrities of 443 Greenwich, and this trellis with the cafe lighting — oh yes, and Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in the foreground — got a few editors excited.

Big Gay was always one of my favorite things. I’ll be curious about your assessment of the new venue. With a presumably new team, and after all the drama behind the scenes I fear it will be a ghost of its former glory.
