November 4, 2024 Restaurant/Bar News
There have been some fits and starts at the former Ward III space, 111 Reade, which closed during the pandemic. But it looks progress is coming with “Little More.” Thanks to J. for the shot.
I am assuming, given the name, that it’s a bar? But there hasn’t been any action for this address at the Licensing Committee of Community Board 1. Winston’s got it’s approval back in March 2022, so maybe that license can transfer?
The last use of the space was the crazy junky clothing store Costbusters — that lasted about a minute last January. Before that Winston’s had its name in neon in the window but failed to launch.
When Ward III closed in October 2020, Kenny McCoy, one of the three owners, cited the loss of the Spotify happy hour crowd as a prime reason. Now that Spotify is giving up much of its leasehold at 4 World Trade Center, it seems Ward III was the canary. (The bar opened in the former QDT space in 2009 and was named as a nod to the address and the old Ward 3.)

We dropped in there for a drink after dinner on 10/26 when they seemed to be having a soft opening. The staff was great and it was so nice to see this space open again.
This space unfortunately seems doomed- bad feng shui or something. Been in the neighborhood for 24 years and nothing ever lasts in this space.
You are wrong. Ward III was there for 13 years and only closed because of the pandemic.
