The Candidates 2026: 10th Congressional District

Primary Day is June 23 and there’s a ton on the ballot, including our US Rep seat, state senate and assembly seat and state comptroller. For the 10th Congressional District, Brad Lander is challenging incumbent Dan Goldman, who was elected in 2022.

THE DISTRICT
All of Lower Manhattan from Chelsea on down PLUS western Brooklyn — Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Red Hook, Gowanus, Prospect Heights, Park Slope, Windsor Terrace and Sunset Park.

THE COVERAGE
Folks have said that the difference between these two candidates is razor thin, except when it comes to Israel. The Times has a story on that issue, noting that while “both candidates are Jewish and describe themselves as liberal Zionists, Mr. Lander has marshaled shifting public attitudes to turn Mr. Goldman’s defense of Israel — which aligns with the longtime status quo in American politics — into a potent line of attack.”

The pair debated on June 1, where Goldman called Lander a career politician (see below) and Lander called Goldman a ‘Danny Come Lately,’ and then again on June 15, where they tackled Israel, immigration and AI.

Goldman, a Levi Strauss heir and one of the richest members of Congress, put $1 million of his own money into his coffers in April and pledged then to match every donation he receives in the run-up to the primary. ~ The New York Times

The latest poll from Emerson College of 450 likely voters shows Lander at 57 percent and Goldman at 23 percent. The Times has a summary of polls going back to last September here.
