Fouquet’s has renovated the crosswalk on Greenwich between its doors on the northwest corner of Desbrosses and the southwest corner — and done a beautiful job. Thanks to N. and P. for the shots. When I went up it was completely under wraps…
I have tried to contact the hotel — no luck! — to see if they have other plans. But N. said he spoke to the contractor who said the hotel was his client and that they plan to do three more crosswalks, including one on Washington Street (the hotel is a block long).
Now if only we could get them to do all of Greenwich…
The city did repair the stretch of Greenwich between Laight and Hubert last year, but they said at the time they have no plans for the rest of Greenwich, which is still abysmal. And starting in 2023, the Department of Design and Construction repaired several crosswalks as identified by the Department of Transportation — I will do a walkabout and make sure they finished them all! Here was the list back then:
Jay & Staple — all four corners
Laight & Collister — T intersection on south side
Jay & Greenwich — east side of Greenwich
Harrison & Greenwich — east side of Greenwich
Vestry & Washington — all four corners (though Washington is already asphalt so those crosswalks will remain that way)
Watts & Greenwich — western side of Greenwich
