••• An article on The Cut says that “High Fashion Has Begun Colonizing Canal Street,” but it’s in an aesthetic sense as much as a geographic one. “Industry people have begun to turn one of the blocks into a mini–Garment District. Two facing buildings, on 264 and 265 Canal, have become a hotbed for the city’s indie talents to set up shop—the brands Area and CG; stylists Mel Ottenberg, Chris Gelinas, George Cortina, and Katie Mossman; and magazines Document Journal and Office, to name a few.” The piece neglects to mention the new Canal Street Market, even though it’s also at 265 Canal and Office magazine runs the café.

••• Nice to see locally owned Good Stock’s new West Village soup store in the New York Times.

••• “A woman had to get nine stitches in her hand after a robber slashed her with a knife and ran off with her purse Monday night, police said. The 25-year-old victim was walking in front of 217 Water St., at Beekman Street, at about 7:45 p.m. when the suspect held a blade to her throat and pulled on her bag.” —DNAinfo

••• “An FDNY firefighter discovered two century-old streetcar tickets in the basement of his Tribeca firehouse. The firefighter was searching for screws in a workbench beneath Engine 7/Ladder 1 [on Duane] when he came across an old tin cup containing the tickets and a dusty pack of cigarettes. The tickets are from the old Eighth Avenue streetcar line run by the now defunct New York Railways company. The date on the ticket reads Friday, Sept. 14, 1917.” —NBC New York

  1. Since Good Stock now has storefronts, have they stopped the weekly delivery service that they offered around here? I took a break during the warmer months but was ready to begin ordering again now that winter is here.

    • Hi McGee! As of now, we’re taking a break from home delivery. But, we might be able to offer something from our new outpost in the West Village. I’ll keep you posted!
