••• It has been one full year since the hotel planned for 456 Greenwich blocked off three sidewalks, and still no activity—except for the cars being allowed to park on the far side. Why doesn’t anyone—CB1, the Department of Buildings, the Department of Transportation—insist the owner move the fences so people won’t end up crossing Greenwich mid-block?
••• The six-story building at 537 Greenwich (between Charlton and Vandam), built in 1909, is being torn down. Cape Advisors plans a gray 30-story building there (calling it 110 Charlton). I don’t know if we’ve seen this rendering below.
••• StrollerlessTribecaHottie says that we can add another business to the card-only list: “Drybar (including the one in Tribeca) has not accepted cash as of April. What sucks is that the stylists (of course) prefer to receive tips in cash but the salon does not have any cash on hand for change. So I assume a lot of customers end up tipping by credit card which isn’t great for the stylists. (If you don’t have change, you can go to Starbucks next door. They’re very nice about breaking a bill as long as you’re willing to wait for someone who uses cash so that they can open the register. LOL!)”
••• Has there ever been a more beautiful year for Japanese pagoda trees? (Actually, the NYC street tree map says the ones on Greenwich are honey locusts, but they all look delightful to me.)

The current Greenwich Street DOT permits all expire on 8/16/17. Maybe our fearless City Councilmember could do something like get answers to your questions, if she cared to.

Fearless leader… funny…
The barricaded sidewalks create a major pedestrian hazard. When attempting to cross Greenwich from the south west corner, there is no way to see whether are cars are coming down the street without stepping way into the middle of the road and putting yourself directly in harms way if a car happens to be coming.
At the very least they should create a separate pedestrian walkway barricaded off from the rest of the street traffic.
Dangerous and very frustrating as one realizes that literally nothing has moved on that “site” in the past 6 months
Um…anyone try to ask her office instead of griping on-line? If you want an answer seek it. Find a way or admit simply being a curmudgeon…
I’ve tried in the past about another issue, and I was completely ignored.
I reached out to this person:

And, and I sent numerous photographs depicting unsafe conditions caused by another issue: the poorly laid cobblestones on Greenwich Street bet. Canal and Hubert and I never heard back from them.
I cannot think of an apparently less taxing job than “Constituent Services, Community Liaison, & Scheduler For Council Member Margaret Chin”
