Having worked as headwaiter at Peter Luger for decades, Wolfgang Zwiener went off on his own and opened a steakhouse in Midtown. Now he has a whole chain of them, including one on Greenwich. The Tribeca outpost feels a little like you could be anywhere, although there are nice touches in the decor, such as the arched ceiling (with tilework) and brick. Not that most of the patrons—mainly men, like the servers in crisp white shirts and black bow ties—are there for the atmosphere. The steak is expensive but very good, as are the German potatoes you really should order as a side. Note: The restaurant’s private room is rare in that it’s at street level—with windows—and not underground.
