Luis Vazquez, who runs the Fidi Fan Page on FB, sent over a bunch of updates, as well as stuff to watch out for in the near future:
Fogo de Chão, the Brazilian churrascaria that opened its first American restaurant in Dallas in 1997 and now has dozens of restaurants here in the States, looks ready to open at 3 World Trade Center. The NYC mothership is on 53rd. Their menu is generally grilled steak, but in 2013, they added new seafood dishes and Brazilian-inspired small plates.
Golden Mall, the famous food hall in Flushing that was founded in 1990 and was recently renovated, still hasn’t opened at 47 Broadway — South of Rector, almost to The Bull — though the signs are up, Luis said. This is a big deal. The Times did a feature here. From The Times: “The mall’s influence and direct role in the local immigrant food economy has been felt far and wide — from its customers to incipient entrepreneurs — and has had ripple effects on restaurateurs’ successes. It’s also helped shape how New Yorkers eat Chinese food.”
Lucky Tiger — an Asian inspired cocktail bar — is finally opening shortly on Coenties Slip (site of former Lovelace Tavern at 66 Pearl) after almost two years.
Sanmiwago — the Taiwanese dumpling house that first opened in 2023, and that has made all sorts of lists for good, cheap eats — is under construction at 66 William and Cedar. They have three locations already open in the city, including one on Mott, and have three more coming online soon.
Barcade — the bar-slash-arcade that was first scheduled for the former Amish Market on West Broadway — toggled to a part of the Century 21 space in 2023. Luis says it is very close to opening.
La Grande Boucherie at 111 Thames (on the Trinity Place side, part of the Thames Promenade) has yet to begin construction. The mothership stretches an entire block on 53rd and Sixth, and they have two other locations in the city — Union Square and West Village — as well as Chicago, Miami and Washington DC.
Finally, “What is going on with the new Ned Hotel?” Luis wrote. “There was significant construction for a while but I’m not sure what is happening now.” The Ned is a British chain of hotels with embedded private clubs — their other NYC location is in Nomad. The plan was to open another location in the former American Stock Exchange Building headquarters at 86 Trinity Place between Thames and Rector. I put in an “enquiry” with their PR firm — no updates at this time, they said.

Add one more to the list: Brooks Brothers has opened their Flagship Store at 195 Broadway (corner of Fulton).
