Seen & Heard: New Wine Bar

eamonns••• I hear that the owner of Mudville 9 is indeed behind the liquor-license activity at 41 Murray (where Eamonn’s is), and which was on this month’s agenda for Community Board 1’s Tribeca Committee, only to be held over. What’s more, I hear he’s opening a wine bar there. The gentrification of Murray Street continues!

barrys••• Barry’s Bootcamp is having a 48-hour sale starting at midnight tonight (and ending Sunday at midnight): All classes are $24, and they never expire. Buy them in-store at 1 York or at barrysbootcamp.com. Sponsored.

••• From the LMCCC: “The city Department of Transportation is resuming its long-term rehabilitation of the Brooklyn Bridge, which was largely on hiatus during the past several weeks of Hurricane Sandy downtown emergency relief work. Overnight detours resumed December 10th, diverting Manhattan-bound traffic from the bridge for crews to perform roadway-resurfacing and other work. The DOT will maintain Brooklyn-bound traffic. Manhattan-bound motorists are encouraged to consider using the Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, or the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel.”

chambers storefront••• Two different sources have told me that the old Bon Chon Chicken space on Chambers (left) will be an Indian restaurant.

••• And one more restaurant rumor, while we’re at it: The owner of Dona Bella pizza at Church and Chambers is opening a pasta joint nearby.

••• From Lisa Levitt, who wrote about a homeless man named Mike last month: “He was actually hired for two weeks on the corner of Broadway between Duane and Thomas Streets. He still has to go sleep in the subway however at night if the local shelters are full. He told me his job is ending today because of the holidays and he is seeking a full-time job in the Tribeca area. He does not earn much from his job but he is looking for another position immediately. The money that he has earned he uses for daily living essentials. He can be located after today on the corner of Broadway and Duane Street helping out the local corner street vendors. I just thought maybe someone might know of a position for Mike. He told me he has had many jobs but he is 48 years old now and needs less physically challenging work.”
