••• I asked Robin Brouillette for an update on her boutique, coming to the W. Broadway storefront where Stella was (before it moved to Duane). She said her plans have broadened, and it’ll be more of “a luxury bazaar of my gowns and dresses mixed in with RB accessories and all my vintage finds from India and around the world.” We can expect a spring opening. ••• BPC resident Kelly Mateo asked me to post this flyer about a bone marrow drive she and a friend have organized on behalf of a friend of theirs.
••• From Anne Marie Bennick at the Live Well Company, which was working on a new space in the River Lofts building when Sandy hit: “Our opening date is dependent on when the building is up and running again and we can get in there to finish our renovation work, etc. It’s terrible this had to happen but there is so much hardship due to the Sandy Storm that we are just happy we will eventually be able to have our place open even if it has been delayed by months at this point. So I would say we are hoping for a summer 2013 opening…. Fingers crossed!”
••• In response to my photo of the refurbished “batmobile” often seen on Franklin, Randy asked whether anyone knew the back story. Surely, someone must know who owns it…?
••• Tomorrow (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) is the last New Amsterdam Market until spring: “The Great Solstice Market will feature over 40 vendors from the region, many of them featuring special holiday items and gift packs, including hot chocolate and seasonal ice cream from The Bent Spoon.” Wait, does that mean peppermint-stick ice cream? That’s my very favorite flavor…. If you’ve never gone to NAM, go. It’s a wonderful addition to the area. Last weekend I bought some super-fresh dates and the best walnuts I’ve had in a long time. I’m not sure the date/walnut vendor will be back this time, though.
Cannot wait to see the Robin Brouillette store. Sounds amazing and such a beautiful space!!
